Point the camera at a thing and it's on the shelf — named, categorised, filed. No form to complete. Brand, model and a description get found for you, so search works later even when you've forgotten what you called it.
Photograph a whole open drawer and everything in it comes back as separate items. Photograph a label and the serial goes on the record.
